San Gregorio
Armeno
San Gregorio Armeno is famous throughout the world as the “Via dei Presepi”, thanks to its rich concentration of ancient artisan workshops that handcraft the characteristic characters of the Neapolitan nativity scene. Located in the heart of Naples, between Via dei Tribunali and the renowned Spaccanapoli, San Gregorio Armeno – also known as Via San Liguoro or Strada Nostriana – represents one of the most renowned streets of the Neapolitan city.
Museo
Cappella
San Severo
The Sansevero Chapel, also known as the church of Santa Maria della Pietà or Pietatella, represents one of the most significant museums in Naples. Located near Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, this former church, no longer consecrated, is adjacent to the family palace of the princes of Sansevero. Between the two buildings there is an alley, previously crossed by a suspension bridge, which allowed family members to reach the church privately.
Piazza
Bellini
Piazza Vincenzo Bellini, located along the main decumanus of Naples, is one of the liveliest areas of the city thanks to the presence of numerous venues that overlook it. With its rectangular shape, it has always been a crucial meeting point for intellectuals, surrounded as it is by various university institutions and positioned near the Academy of Fine Arts and the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella. The latter is particularly significant as it welcomed important national composers, including Vincenzo Bellini, to whom the square owes its name. A statue by Alfonso Balzico from 1886, placed in the center of the square, commemorates the figure of Bellini.
Maschio
Angioino
The Maschio Angioino, also known as Castel Nuovo, is an ancient medieval and Renaissance fort, and is one of the distinctive emblems of Naples. Rising majestically on the picturesque Piazza Municipio, the castle hosts the Neapolitan Society of Homeland History and the Naples committee of the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento, housed in the premises of the SNSP. Inside the complex there is also the Civic Museum, which includes the Palatine chapel and the exhibition itineraries on the first and second floors.
MUSA
Museum
As part of the reorganization of its cultural and scientific institutions, Vanvitelli University has decided to establish the MUSA – University Museum of Sciences and Arts, a new and dynamic tool aimed at promoting communication and access to historical assets.
Subsequently, the new University Statute identifies MUSA as one of the main points of reference, entrusting its management to a Director and a Scientific Committee.
MUSA aims to redefine the traditional concept of museum, going beyond the idea of a simple static container of objects and instead orienting itself towards new methods of conservation, valorization and use, in order to contribute harmoniously to the socio-cultural growth of the territory where it is located.
Quartieri
Spagnoli
The lively Quartieri Spagnoli represents a commercial district adjacent to Via Toledo, a partly pedestrian street famous for its fashion shops, both traditional and designer. In the surrounding area, there are trattorias and stalls offering fried pizza, along with numerous churches, including the Santa Maria della Mercede in Montecalvario, dating back to the sixteenth century. This area is also the gateway to Napoli Sotterranea, a complex network of tunnels and catacombs.
